ESL Certificate (English as a Second Language)

Hello! My name is Olivia Stutz and I am from Dellwood, Minnesota. I graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with endorsements in Reading and English as a Second Language (ESL). Ever since I started school I always wanted to teach abroad, and I am very grateful to have this experience to work in Taiwan at Cornel!

I am very excited to teach at the ShangAn Campus this year! My goal is to show my students how to love learning. I hope they will be engaged and ready to learn. Creating a safe learning, positive, collaborative environment is a goal I hope to achieve in my class. Building relationships with my students is something that is important to me. Once I know my students, it will help me connect to their learning needs. Each of my students will be treated with respect by me and the entire class. I will build a sense of belonging and allow the students to feel comfortable trying new things. My plan is to use a lot of interactive ways of teaching to get the students moving.

When I am not teaching, I love to be with friends, family, and my pets. I enjoy cooking, playing tennis, and learning new things. I enjoy meeting new people and traveling to different areas. When I am in Taiwan, I hope to have time to learn more about the culture and explore the beautiful island. I am also looking forward to trying new foods. I can’t wait to meet you and your students!
