Cornel student Olivia competed in a higher age category and impressively ranked 24th in the world.

Principal Chen encountered Olivia Shu in Open Worlds Cup held in Blackpool, UK.

Last Monday, May 12, Principal Chen was representing Taiwan to give a ballroom dance show in Open Worlds , and she encountered Olivia who had flown there specifically to compete in a ballroom dance competition.

Every May, Blackpool hosts a world championship event, a major highlight in the ballroom dancing world. It is often referred to as the “Olympics” of ballroom dancing which brings together top dancers from around the world.

At just ten years old, Olivia traveled all the way to UK to take part in this world championship dance competitions. Since she was only 10 years old, there is no proper age division for her, she competed in the 12-year-old division. Remarkably, she placed among the top 24 dancers worldwide—a truly astonishing achievement.

In Cornel students are trained from an early age to develop a global perspective and the courage to perform on stage. We are proud to see Olivia applying these qualities in real life. Her future holds great promise.
