My name is Evan Wettengal. My students in the U.S. call me Mr. W., but you can call me whatever you want! I am 33 years old and this will be my 10th year teaching. I like to travel and I have always wanted to teach abroad, so I am very excited for the opportunity to teach in Taiwan! My main priority as a teacher is building relationships with my students. I feel that if we can understand each other and communicate well, then we can both reach our highest potential. I know the kids, families, and teachers at Cornel have a lot to teach me, and I can’t wait to get started!
I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 5th grade, and technology for a total of nine years
I have a Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin
I have a Master’s in Educational Leadership and with a minor in International Education from the University of Minnesota.
I taught elementary school in Uganda, Africa in 2010
I like to play volleyball, soccer, and all kinds of sports
I like to run, hike, bike, scooter, drive, fly, and explore in any way possible
I have been to Europe, Africa, and South America, but never Asia
I have always had pet rats in my classroom – they are very sweet animals
During quarantine, I have been trying to teach myself how to play the ukulele and do a handstand (not at the same time!)
