COURTNEY TIMMS

Hello! My name is Courtney Timms and I am excited to be teaching at Cornel School. I am from Center Moriches, New York, which is a small town on Long Island. I graduated from St. Joseph’s College with a Bachelor in Child Study and Visual Arts, and a Master in Infant/Toddler Special Education. I have experience teaching infants, kindergarten, and all elementary grade levels. I have also taught some art classes and I have taught students with various disabilities.

I strive to design engaging lessons that incorporate various techniques to address all learning styles. I like to integrate art, hands-on components, and technology whenever possible. My goal is to motivate my students to try new things and instill a passion for learning. I try to create an environment that promotes creativity, confidence and is student-centered. I like to maintain an open line of communication and I welcome my students’ thoughts, opinions and stories.

I have always had a passion for travelling and trying new things. I find joy in going on adventures, being outdoors and stepping out of my comfort zone. I like to share my experiences with my students and I love to hear about the experiences they have. In my spare time I enjoy reading, painting and watching movies. I also enjoy cooking and finding new recipes to try. If you would like to learn more about me please feel free to stop in and say ‘Hi!’
